I do not know if some of you have gone through what I went through while in Nairobi but one thing I am sure is that many of you have.
Therefore, when I went to Nairobi last month, I embarked on job searching mission and, luckily, got an opportunity to attend an interview along Kenyatta Avenue.
I reached at the venue at exactly 9:30AM and found scores of other candidates ready file for the same exercise.
A notice stuck at the entrance of the interview room read, “Payments sh 5,500” and therefore, I had to quickly call my uncle to send me the money.
My uncle, as generous as he is always, sent the cash in my M-Pesa which I paid for the interview. My fellow candidates also paid. We were so many in number around 150 candidates.
We did the interviews and we were told to come back after two days to pick the results. When I arrived that Friday, I found so many people milled around the room but each complaining. Police were also around busy talking on their walkie talkies.
Shortly, I learnt that the guys who had interviewed us were no where to be seen. They had conned us our hard-earned money!
Police, on the other hand, told us to go home and wait for investigations. My problem was my uncle who had supported me with the cash. What was I going to tell him? I feared he would see me as a dishonest man.
However, When I arrived at home, I waited for him to arrive from his job and shared with him the whole story. He just smiled and went to his bedroom.
After around 15 minutes, he called me for clarification and I repeated exactly what I had told him.
He then took his phone and called this number ….. and explained to the other man on the other end what had transpired to me.
The two talked for five minutes and hanged up before he turned to me and said, “The money will be back by morning. I have just spoken to my traditional doctor called Dr. Mugwenu”.
Next day by 9AM, a man in pain called and said he was sending the sh 5,500 because he was being pushed by unknown forces in the air. He actually sent the entire money through M-pesa. Thank you Doctor Mugwenu. I also heard that his group had already been found and arrested.
