Woman says she did this to get justice after she was thrashed by elders due to false infidelity claims she was accused of

A woman in Vihiga County cried for justice after she was beaten by village elders at a certain village. Linet 40 claimed that four village elders accused her of sleeping with a neighbors’ husband. “They accosted me in my house and demanded that I accompany them to the road where they pounced on me. They did not give me a chance to explain myself,” said the single mother. Apparently the elders had received complaints from her neighbors and decided to deal with the suspected home breaker with no evidence.

“The woman accused me of not only sleeping with her husband, but also infecting with sexually transmitted disease,” said the victim. According to Linet, she had been summoned by the elderly to come to a meeting which was meant to solve the issue but she failed since she had been taking care of her ailing daughter. She was told to lie down in public sand received lashes before the villagers which was an embarrassing moment in her life. She was later fined ksh 5000 to the offence she said she never did. They only accused her of being a single mother and no one else could have been accused of the issue.

The elders dragged her to her home where they took some of her credentials like one cow and a dozen chicken since she was not able to pay the 5000 fine. The area assistant chief did not help her get justice and so she had to bear with the situation at that particular time. She had no one to share the story keeping in mind her family was miles away where she had been living.
