Chronic Thief Frogmarched to Church After Stealing Bishop’s Underwears in Kariobangi
“Mwizi Mwizi!!! Shika huyo!! Kamata yeye!!” Shouts could be heard urging anyone to catch Muchiri before he gets too far. He surprised many, for despite a load carefully placed on his shoulders, he was running so fast nobody could get to him. In a flash, he was gone!! He had the audacity to enter the Pentecostal Church in Kariobangi and steal from the Bishop’s house!! To make matters worse, he didn’t just steal the previous day’s tithe offerings, he stole some Underwear too. This shocked many, for they didn’t expect him to be that daring. Muchiri had peeped through a small hole Sunday evening, only to witness the Bishop stuffing money under a pillow to be deposited at a local bank the next day. He took that as his one opportunity to kick hunger and poverty in the balls and walk away with thousands.
Muchiri was certain he had just scooped the jackpot. He went straight to a nearby hideout and counted his loot. A whopping Kshs. 97600!!! My oh my!! He couldn’t help salivate at the prospect of eating Pilau and chicken daily for the rest of the month.
At the Church, a small gathering of people was still discussing what they had just witnessed. A robbery in broad daylight was an unseen crime especially at a church!! The world must really be pulling its heavy curtains close. What was more baffling being the underwear situation. Did the thief intend to wear them?? Or was it just a souvenir to remember how brave and quick he was when faced with the threat of losing his loot and possibly his freedom??
Unfortunately, Muchiri was not very lucky. In less than an hour, two grown up men came straight to his hideout and took him by surprise. He wasn’t expecting to be found. He was Frog marched all the way to the church. Apparently, one of them, Alfred Wanyonyi had contacted a traditional herbalist called Dr mugwenu to seek his help.
