“I was sacked a week after my wife gave birth” Nairobi man highlights

James and his wife had been expecting their first child in marriage. This was their second year in marriage. A week after his wife gave birth, he says he got sacked by the company he had been working for six years. He wondered how things suddenly changed.

He was the sole bread winner of his family. Surviving was indeed difficult as he said. He opted to other means of ensuring he met some of their basic needs but the little money he got was not enough. Life was tough keeping in mind is wife needed a decent life as she had just brought a new soul into the world.

“This was the most difficult time in my life. I had no savings, neither a business that I would depend on at least to feed my family. My every other friend that I had known turned their back against me. Surviving was really hard,” he said.

He was forced to venture into a small kiosk waiter, where he was being paid ksh 250 per day. He says this money was not enough to ensure he met his family needs. But at least he had something to feed his family with, rather than sitting back and depending for aid from his friends who at that particular time they had turned their back against him.

The little amount he had been earning was only meant to feed his family. Still there were other needs which he needed to sort out but money was nowhere.
