Nyeri Resident Left in Shock After a Lady Painfully Shares her Troubles Living with his Father After Mum Passed Away in an Accident

I’m Matilda from Nyeri. My mum had a horrendous accident that took her away when I was only 7 years old. Since then all I’ve known was the constant towering figure of my father.

He is a teacher at a local primary school. My mother’s death triggered an invisible switch in my father. He was never the same. He started to drink, initially over the weekend but progressively became a daily event. I got used to it eventually. I had to graduate fast and take care of both him and my younger brother. As his drinking got worse, I had to occasionally do odd jobs to feed us.
