My name is Lydiah Kioko, a 26-year-old single mother from Machakos. First, let’s acknowledge a simple fact: most of us dedicate a lot of time rectifying the mistakes we made in out teenage years. Those times when we felt invincible, indestructible and immortal. We deliberately ignore the advice from our parents, thinking their time is over, they should just shrink and die. I was one of those teenagers, who fully embraced adolescence and peer pressure. At the tender age of 17, I was pregnant. My schooling was interrupted and then soon stopped. Considering how I ignored the wise sayings of my mother, she asked that I take full responsibility for the baby girl, who came at a time when I least expected to be a mother. Putting food on the table was hard. Her father skipped town and went to live with his older brother in Kajiado.

So I had to grow up. I found a job as a house help at a salary of Kshs. 4000 per month. With that kind of money, it’s impossible to dream of ever beating poverty and making it. There is no room for savings, every coin is consumed way before end month. I had to quit after just four months when the man of that particular house hold, a Mr. Kilonzo, started to make sexual advances. Several months later, I was still doing odd jobs like laundry and helping in farming just to feed and clothe my little one. I was struggling and I knew it. I look back at the people who lied to me that I was pretty and was meant to conquer the world, I cry alone to sleep.

It was during the previous Safari Rally that I made the first breakthrough. I made some money selling packaged water to the many foreigners and with it made a good profit of more than Kshs. 15,000. With that money, I started a grocery, otherwise called a “kibanda Cha mboga” in many parts. Things started to look up as I made sells daily. Then I finally saw a door open. Many a times, doubts kill dreams. Let me tell you, there is nothing more damaging than indecisiveness. Sitting on the fence and doing nothing is useless. If you see an opportunity, take it. That’s what I did when a female friend with whom I schooled with gave me the contact of Mugwenu Doctors. Through their money spells, she was already driving a Toyota Lexus after her business in Clothing and Wedding Gowns made her hundreds of thousands.

With that I sought Mugwenu Doctors immediately and nothing has been the same. In less than a year, I had graduated to purchasing Milk Cows. As we speak, I own the best and largest cow ranch in Machakos. My daughter is happy, I’m happier and my mother the happiest, for she is growing to see her daughter achieve what she couldn’t. Nothing makes a mother happier than seeing her kids succeed.
