I’m Taylor Omondi from Siaya. I got married to a lawyer two years ago but since then, I have come to learn it was a big mistake. Miriam my wife is a good lawyer but instead of reserving her abilities to work, she has instead chosen to make our marital life a living hell for me. Before we got married, she asked for a certificate of good conduct, a tax report indicating my law-abiding nature and a passport size photo. She also made me sign a pre-nap saying should I initiate divorce proceedings; I should invite everyone present at our wedding to witness our divorce. We would also split everything 50-50 in such a scenario and she will get to keep the kid. I say kid because she has repeatedly said she only wants one child.
She will lawyer-up even in the tiniest argument, when I try to man up she quickly dismisses my point saying chauvinism is a serious offence, she could open a case and sue me for damages. She somehow knows all the Human Rights laws, the Bill of rights and everything about women empowerment. She was the one who named our son Bill when I clearly wanted to name him Samuel like my father. Our most recent argument was rather serious. She wanted to plant a tracking device in one of my molar teeth, activate location history on my phone and have a record of all my bank and Mpesa pins. Interestingly though, her pins are hers to keep and protect. She claims to have a right as she is my next of kin. Such one-sided arguments drove me to the brink am barely sleeping.
