A thief has forty days,” so they say. But for one unfortunate bodaboda thief in Lari Town, Kiambu, his time ran out in the most bizarre and terrifying way.

I was right there when it all unfolded, and to this day, I can’t believe what I saw.

It was around midday when chaos erupted at the town’s main stage. A young man, who had just stolen a parked motorbike, found himself in deep trouble.

Just as he revved up the engine, ready to speed off, a swarm of angry bees appeared out of nowhere. Within seconds, they covered his face, arms, and legs, stinging him mercilessly. He screamed in agony, dropping the bike and rolling on the dusty road, trying to shake them off.

At first, we thought it was some random incident—bad luck, maybe. But the moment the bike’s owner arrived, everything took a strange turn.

The owner, a middle-aged man named Mr. Kamau, stood there, watching the thief struggle, a calm smile on his face. “Mimi sikufuatilia polisi. Nilijua atalipia dhambi yake,” he said, meaning he hadn’t bothered to report to the police because he knew the thief would be punished.

Curious, I pressed him for answers. That’s when he revealed his secret—Mugwenu Doctors’ powerful protection spells.

‘I Can Catch and Punish Thieves Whenever I Want’

According to Kamau, he had been a victim of multiple motorbike thefts before deciding to seek spiritual protection.

Frustrated by constant losses, he visited Mugwenu Doctors, a famous traditional healer known for powerful spells. They cast a special protection spell on his bike, ensuring that whoever stole it would suffer immediate punishment.

“Sikujua itafanya kazi haraka hivi,” Kamau said with a chuckle, admitting that even he was surprised by how fast the spell worked.

He explained that the spell allows him to control when and how thieves get caught.

“Kama ningeamua, ningemfanya atembee uchi au abaki hapo hadi nije,” he added, meaning he could have made the thief strip naked or freeze on the spot until he arrived.

Kamau further revealed that he not only uses protection spells on his bike but also on himself. Years back, he had been attacked by robbers who left him for dead. That’s when he decided to take spiritual matters seriously.

“Sasa siwezi shikwa na majambazi. Wakijaribu, wataanza kupigana wao kwa wao,” he boasted, explaining that any robbers who tried to harm him would turn against each other instead.

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. But seeing the thief rolling on the ground, covered in bees, made me wonder—was this really the work of Mugwenu Doctors?

Police Arrive, But the Drama Wasn’t Over

By the time police arrived, a huge crowd had gathered to witness the strange event. Officers tried to help the thief, but the bees seemed to grow even angrier.

It took the intervention of Kamau himself to call off the spell. He murmured some words, and within minutes, the bees started dispersing.

The officers, clearly shocked, arrested the thief, who was now weak and swollen from the stings. Locals murmured among themselves, with some vowing to visit Mugwenu Doctors for similar protection.

As I left the scene, one thing was clear—crime doesn’t pay, and in Kiambu, even nature seems to conspire against thieves.
