Growing up, I was the guy people called "sharp." Teachers liked me. I aced my KCSE, did well in college, and my parents even had this little photo of me holding my degree on the wall. I had big dreams, man. I saw myself running a big company or starting a chain of businesses. But …

Growing up, I was the guy people called “sharp.” Teachers liked me. I aced my KCSE, did well in college, and my parents even had this little photo of me holding my degree on the wall. I had big dreams, man. I saw myself running a big company or starting a chain of businesses. But life? Life decided to humble me real quick.

My first job came like a blessing. I was hired by a startup in Nairobi that did online deliveries. I was excited and even treated my girlfriend to nyama choma the first weekend. But within two weeks, the company closed down due to “funding issues.” No warning. Just a phone call and a sad goodbye email.

I said fine, startups fail all the time. I moved on.

The second job? A well-paying customer service gig at a big telecom firm. I had barely worked there a month when my supervisor suddenly accused me of tampering with client data. Me? Tamper? I couldn’t believe it. I tried to explain but no one listened. Fired. Just like that.

That’s when it started hitting me that something was wrong. Something deep. Because every time I got an opportunity, every time I was about to rise, something weird would happen. I’d fall sick. I’d lose documents. I’d even have freak accidents. It became a pattern I couldn’t ignore.

So, I paused.

I stopped blaming luck. I stopped complaining. I started asking questions. And that’s when my cousin Tony, who used to work in Mombasa, pulled me aside one evening and told me something I never expected.

He said, “Bro, some of these things are spiritual. I went through the same until I got help.”

He then shared his own story about how someone close to him had placed something on him out of jealousy. I asked him what he did, and he simply said, “I reached out to someone who deals with such matters.”

With nothing to lose, I followed his advice.

I made a call. A warm voice answered. I shared everything. The person on the other end didn’t judge me, didn’t rush me. They told me I was under a spiritual block known as kinyongo, often sent by jealous people or rivals who want to keep you stuck.

Long story short, I followed the guidance I was given. There were a few steps I took for cleansing, protection, and restoring my luck. I won’t lie, I was skeptical at first. But what did I have to lose?

And now, for the first time in years, things are actually working.

I started a small cleaning supply business. My first client was a random guy I met at a car wash. He connected me to an NGO that needed monthly cleaning stock. That NGO referred me to another. And before I knew it, I was supplying across Upper Hill.

No one has accused me of anything. No one has pulled me down. I’ve been healthy, energetic, and positive. It’s like the fog finally cleared.

I now believe that success is not just about what you know or who you know. Sometimes, it’s about what you’re carrying spiritually. If that baggage is heavy, you can hustle all you want but nothing moves.

So if you’re like me, someone who’s tried everything but keeps getting stuck, maybe it’s time you look beyond what the eyes can see. Don’t wait too long.
