There has been drama in Kakamega Town this morning after a man who broke into a shop ended up crying loudly from inside, calling for help and begging for forgiveness. Residents who rushed to the scene said they have never seen anything like it.
The incident happened just three hours ago near the main bus park. It is around 3 am when a man believed to be from the nearby Shieywe area decided to break into a popular retail shop, thinking it would be an easy target. But what followed has shocked the entire town.

According to bodaboda riders and shopkeepers nearby, they have heard strange noises and assumed there is a robbery. But instead of hearing someone running away or breaking things, they have heard someone crying.
“He was just shouting from inside the shop,” said Benja, a bodaboda operator. “He was saying things like ‘Nisaidieni watuuu’ and ‘Sitawahi rudi kwa hii njia’ — yet nobody has touched him.”
A crowd quickly gathered, some trying to peep through the shop windows, others just laughing in disbelief. Then the shop owner calmly walked out of his house, just a few steps away. What surprised many is that he looked very calm, like he already knew what is going on.
He has walked to the shop, opened the door without any rush, and found the man kneeling on the floor, shaking and sweating. People thought maybe the shop has electric shock or the man has seen ghosts.
But what the shop owner said next has shocked the whole crowd.
“I do not have a guard. I do not have CCTV. I do not even lock my shop with strong padlocks anymore. But my business is protected,” he said confidently.
The crowd has gone silent.
That is when he revealed he has visited Mugwenu Doctors in February this year after losing almost everything to theft and unexplained problems. He said thieves have been targeting his shop for months and even his own workers have been stealing from him.
