Otieno a good friend of mine who I was his captain years ago when I was still playing in the federation of Kenya football was ready to quit football and support his sick mother that was suffering from blood cancer. Many people would understand his decision to quit football especially that Kenyan football doesn’t pay and should be taken as a rehab center that keeps youth busy from abusing drugs and even committing theft crimes and even impregnating young girls. The coach would advise Otieno who was a goalkeeper that he had talent and he would go far if he stays patient and wait for his time.
He had great reflexes and dived like a dolphin and got a nickname “mikono mia mia” from supporters of Kibera Black stars FC a club that he had been wearing their crest representing them week in week out. He was so desperate to play abroad despite the fact that all sport persons dream such.
