Makau, a 28-year-old man in Kitengela is used to the daily struggle of having to seek a job at a construction site to work all day long in the mjengo industry. He was a quiet man. He would show up to work, do his job, diligently and to the best of his ability and go home to the quiet and cosy single room he rented. Nothing new, no troubles abound. Unfortunately, his boss, the guy who had been issued the tender to construct the building he worked at, chose to pick on him last week.
After doing strenuous work all day building a complicated flight of stairs, he came by in the evening and instead of asking them to rectify the parts he was not pleased with, he brought down the whole thing and asked them to start over from scratch.
