Muthoni 31 was born and raised in Machakos as the only child. Her mother was a single mother and they lived at her grandmother’s house. Her mother was hardly at home because she went to different places looking for employment.
She faced different challenges as she grew up and, luckily, she managed to finish her education to the university level. Afterwards she got a job as a secretary and later graduated to a manager of a firm.
She says at this time she met a man and got married. Soon after marriage she got pregnant and gave birth a son. When her child was six months old her husband abandoned her and she moved on with her life.
She says that she used all her savings to buy land and built a house. She also bought two cars. After some time her business collapsed and that’s when she got a job in Saudi Arabia.
Muthoni left her daughter with a friend as she went to work as a domestic worker. A few months later she got very sick. Her kidneys failed and developed Diabetes. After some time, she contracted Coronavirus and things became worse.
She would then use all her savings in hospital in Saudi Arabia but the situation didn’t improve either.
