My name is David, an alumnus of the Masinde Muliro University of science and technology ( MMUST). When I joined the first year I had promised myself that I won’t be one of those students who get distracted and end up deferring or dropping out altogether. What if I did well in high school then this should be easier considering am doing a course of my choosing. Am the firstborn and therefore was determined to make my father proud, and set a good example for my younger siblings to look up to.
Fast forward two semesters later and I was accumulating supplementary like nobody’s business. And yet it wasn’t for lack of trying. Or that my grey matter was not grey enough. The library was my second hostel. I would frequently burn the midnight oil and do one better and burn the midday oil too!! Yet somehow it was becoming clear that it was going to take longer to complete the course. Add a few “tarmacking years and I’d probably settle at the very tender age of fifty!!!
Despite my woes, my friend Alfred, whom we sat for our KCSE from the same school and did slightly better than him was having the time of his life on campus. His library visits were few and far between, consistently passed, and even dared to go for a rave every Friday evening. How dare you?? What’s his secret? I wondered. Is it because he’s Catholic?? Could it be that his mother’s prayers are often heard and mines aren’t? Or maybe he’s a direct descendant of Albert Einstein? I doubt it.
If I get another sup am afraid my dad will disown me. He was looking at me funny the last time I was on holiday. I think he is beginning to suspect I may not be his son. I don’t want to be the latest sacrifice to the Illuminati, my friend, how do you do it? Is there like some kind of secret formula? “.I asked Alfred. He laughed and then tried to imitate our History teacher in high school and said The biggest lie to ever exist is the illusion that there is only life and death, black and white, true or false. There’s always a third dimension. There’s true and false and that which is ambiguous falls in neither.
I didn’t understand so he explained that his secret formula, his third dimension, is a person. A person he learned from a Facebook testimony he read about a few months before joining campus. A healer and herbalist by the name of Dr. Mugwenu.
I contacted him before I was enlisted and he gave me herbs to clear my mind and cast successful spells to make sure I never fail. And they worked. So you should do the same and watch your grades transform!!
