Story of a couple who say they first got their first child after 15 years of being in marriage
A couple from Kisumu shared their shocking story on how they had been in marriage up to 15 years without a child. Margret and her husband said that what brought this tough situation was that she was barren. She says her husband never knew anything concerning her condition.
She opted to hide all her secrets to her husband even after she knew she was not able to give birth. She said her decision of not disclosing to her husband that she was barren was that she feared that her husband would ouster her from the marriage, keeping in mind children were highly valued.
“I knew I had a problem. I kept hiding the truth from my husband as I knew I would go through a lot of pressure and humiliation for not being able to have kids. Each time he asked for a medical check-up I would fall back as I had already known my problem,” she added.
She kept it a secret for all this time. At some point she would even lie to her husband that she had been using some pregnancy preventing medications just to avoid being asked what the problem was. She in laws were ready to ouster her as they were had lacked patience in her. They kept asking him to chase her out of that marriage as her benefits were no more. She was seen as a burden.
